The pintleless benefit I get, but I don't see how the electrical side would be any different. Some don't even swap out their wiring harness, they just graft the newer connectors onto the existing early harness. Later harnesses direct swaps. So, if there was constant 12v before it's still present regardless of the injector style. It seems only an ECU change could change the operating scheme (switched ground vs. switched hot)??
